 Position Available:
Sr. Patent Agent

Life Technologies has an immediate opportunity available for a Patent agent position responsible for the development and strategy of LIFE Technologies' IP portfolio related to qPCR instrumentation, including thermal transfer, optics, control, microfluidics, primary and secondary analysis software, and plastics.

The preferred candidate will have a molecular biology and instrumentation background either through education, work experience, or both.

The role includes patent preparation and prosecution, and patent portfolio management. Relevant skills include US patent practice and EP prosecution and oppositions. Other skills include invention disclosure review, publication review, project liaison, and patent searching.

The right person for this role will have high technical ability both in the scientific realm and in the legal field. The successful individual will possess exceptional communication skills, both written and interpersonal, a collaborative instinct, and a can-do attitude for this dynamic work environment.

 Education:
Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or instrumentation related Biotech with PhD preferred.

Experience:
The preferred candidate will have at least 2 years patent prepration and prosecution experience, or at least 3 years in the patent field. USPTO registration is required. Experience in Life Science or Biotech industries preferred.

This position will be housed at our Carlsbad, CA headquarters. We will also consider candidates at our Foster City, CA location. Relocation Benefits are available.
