Job Description:

The Trademark Paralegal is responsible for handling all foreign trademark prosecution and docketing functions. The successful candidate will handle the docketing of inbound, outbound and internal communications and proactively monitor and ensure that all deadlines are timely met. The Trademark Paralegal is expected to have a full understanding of the foreign trademark prosecution process and be competent in the docketing of all related actions.

• Reviews and dockets various types of communications in connection with all trademark prosecution matters.
• Communicates with foreign trademark counsel on trademark registration matters
• Ensures the integrity of the trademark database by performing quality review of docketed actions, by creating new records and updating new actions in a timely manner, and by entering, monitoring and clearing deadlines in a timely manner
• Manages trademark renewal process with outside vendor.
• Maintain foreign trademark docket to ensure deadlines are met (filing dates, office action deadlines, registration dates, renewal dates, update remarks, etc.)
• Work with client groups to obtain product samples and other sales and use information to support prosecution of foreign trademark applications and other related proceedings
• Prepares various reports on an as needed basis.
• Manage correspondence, documentation and recording of trademark chain-of-title resulting from assignments, name changes, address changes, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
• Manages file clerk and oversees the organization of all paper files.
• Review and process legal bills for approval. Coordinate with finance department for proper coding procedures. Follow-up on outstanding invoices reported by outside vendors.


Necessary Experience:

Bachelor's degree and minimum of three years foreign trademark experience. Good communication skills, able to work collaboratively, think creatively and take initiative.

• Good communication, oral, written and interpersonal skills.
• Able to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Able to plan, organize and carry out multiple related activities.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, and Excel and an aptitude for IT.
