Manages the IP Portfolio for growing technology company



The research and development team at SloanLED is seeking a technically oriented individual to coordinate activities related to intellectual property.

 

 

This individual will work directly on the existing IP portfolio, investigate potential patent violations, recommend needed IP protection for our current and developing products, as well as perform patent searches that support and advise design engineers on existing patents. All responsibilities must be carried out with discretion and confidentiality in a close client relationship and highly competitive product development environment.

 

 

This position requires a professional skilled at managing multiple projects. These projects require exceptional attention to detail, excellent organization and good communication skills. Also, this seasoned team player must have the ability to understand technical aspects of LED systems combined with the temperament to work with patent lawyers, safety agency engineers, safety agency administrators and design engineers while working as a liaison for the product design team.

 

 

Additional responsibilities include: maintaining a library of safety agency standards that apply to the products in our industry, and working with the design engineers team to advise and direct safety agency certification projects, as well as working directly with the personnel of those agencies to lead and coordinate required investigations and files.

 

 

Required Experience and Education:

 

Five years experience in a working in a legal office or a company IP Department.

 

Paralegal Certification

 

Very strong background with Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Exposure to the patent application, PCT and patent search processes.

 

 

Desired Experience:

 

BA/BS degree

 

Experience with UL, TUV, CSA, FCC, NSF and ETL safety agency organizations.
