Patent Agent

 Title: Patent Agent – (Note: A patent agent is someone who has an engineering degree and who also passed the patent bar. A patent agent works in a patent law firm (intellectual property law firm—technology law). A patent agent does not need a law degree, although quite a few have a law degree.

Growing 10-year old patent law firm, with multi-national corporation clients and an exciting practice, is seeking a part-time-to-full-time patent agent.

 We are looking for a 2+ years experience patent agent with a B.S. in mechanical or electrical engineering. The prospective candidate must have passed the patent bar, should have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.4, and possess excellent problem solving skills and a strong engineering/scientific foundation. Also important are strong research skills and written and oral communication skills. This person should be highly motivated, be a team player and have strong work ethics. Additionally, the person must be flexible, capable of multitasking and meeting time-pressure deadlines and budget constraints.

Responsibilities include researching and analyzing electrical and mechanical patents and other prior art references, drafting patent applications and amendments, managing the docket, paralegals and associated foreign law firms, and other matters.
