This is a 2-year Defined Term Position

Purpose/Role Statement
Prepares and prosecutes patent applications before the U.S. patent office and directs prosecution in foreign patent offices. Represents the company in matters relating to intellectual property law and provides other general legal advice where required.

Key Responsibilities
A Counsel I, Patent position has the following key responsibilities. This position will receive considerable oversight from more senior counsel. Exposure to clients is minimal or supervised until the counsel has shown the capability. Responsible for the preparation of US and foreign patent applications. Responsible for prosecution of U.S. applications.
Coordinates foreign patent prosecution. Responsible for searching and reviewing prior art. Work closely with in-house senior counsel, outside US and OUS counsel.

Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities
Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support. Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented.

J.D. admitted to a state bar in good standing
Registered Patent Attorney
BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering
0-2 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications
Medical Device experience preferred

Necessary Experience: 2-5 Years Experience
