Legal Secretary for Patent/Trademark Firm

Patent/trademark law firm located in Orangeburg, New York seeks a full-time secretary with 2 to 5 years experience (will train legal).

The position requires a detail-oriented, organized individual with strong computer and word processing background, specifically in Word Perfect, Word and Outlook. Candidate must have excellent document preparation, proofreading, spelling and grammar and telephone skills and be able to work in a computer network.

Proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Paint Shop Pro, TimeSlips and Adobe Acrobat are a plus.

Duties include heavy typing of letters, contracts, legal memoranda, legal pleadings, discovery documents, patent and trademark filings (will train) from verbal, handwritten, typed and/or dictated instructions; careful proofreading; sending emails and faxes; scanning and saving scanned documents; accessing and filing papers electronically with government agencies and courts; preparing files for attorneys; answering telephone calls, taking telephone messages and screening telephone calls; monitoring daily incoming firm email, printing and redirecting the email; generating bills using billing software; maintaining and updating daily logs, mailing lists, and contact lists.
