JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the efficient and effective management to prepare and prosecute patent applications, maintain the company's patent portfolio, draft and negotiate intellectual property related contracts and participate in various company activities and committees related to intellectual property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepare drafts to file new patent applications in the United States and Internationally
2. Prosecute pending patent applications in the United States and oversee prosecution by international associates
3. Prepare patentability, infringement, and validity opinions
4. Prepare drafts and review intellectual property related contracts
5. Provide associates with the training and knowledge on various aspects of intellectual property law (i.e. the laws and rules of patentability)
6. Provide advice and legal counsel to business and research associates
7. Participate in all related activities, meetings and committees related to intellectual property
8. Travel as necessary

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):

' Law Degree from accredited University and a member of a State bar
' Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
' 5 years minimum patent preparation and prosecution experience
' Experience preparing patentability, infringement, and validity opinions
' Familiarity with the patent laws and rules, domestically and internationally
' Experience with the Patent Cooperation Treat (PCT)
' Experience drafting intellectual property related contracts (i.e. confidential disclosure agreements and research agreements)
' Ability to work well within a team environment
' Ability to adapt to change

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
' Degree in chemistry or biological science
