Patent Attorney

 JOB DESCRIPTION

GPS Manufacturer/Distributor POSITION SUMMARY: Assist Garmin's collegial and fast-paced Legal Department with intellectual property matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct patent and literature prior art searches
Oversee, prepare, and prosecute patent applications
Assist with patentability reviews
Provide litigation support and legal advice on patent validity and infringement issues

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with other position-appropriate intellectual property matters on an as-needed basis, including overseeing, preparing and prosecuting trademark applications and preparing licensing and confidentiality agreements

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Law degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school
Admission to practice as an attorney before the bar of any State or the District of Columbia
Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
0-5 years experience as an attorney

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Aggressive and Creative Problem Solving Skills
Degree (Bachelor's or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
Industry experience as an engineer or software developer
