Provide clint counseling to all areas of intellectual property law

Nidec Motor Corporation, a global manufacturer of high-quality motors for commercial, industrial and consumer markets, is seeking an IP Counsel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Helping management formulate and carry out intellectual property strategies Developing and maintaining the domestic and international patent and trademark portfolios Directing outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications Performing and directing outside counsel in the performance of prior art searches for novelty, validity and potential infringement matters Drafting and negotiating license agreements, joint development agreements, consulting agreements, and confidentiality agreements Directing and managing outside counsel in the preparation of legal opinions; assisting and managing outside counsel in intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution proceedings; and providing in-house litigation support.

Qualifications and Experience:

BSME or BSEE; Doctor of Jurisprudence degree Admission to the state bar (the selected candidate will be expected to also gain timely admission to the Missouri Bar and admission to practice before the USPTO. 5-7 years experience preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, drafting and negotiating technology-related agreements, client counseling, opinion drafting, litigation support and trademark matters. Experience in licensing opinion drafting litigation support and trademark matters is a plus Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering is desired Strong academic, analytical, communication and organizational skills Nidec Motor Corporation offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a full benefit package which includes medical, dental, vacation and 401(k).
