We are seeking a proven leader with legal experience specifically focused on intellectual property transactions, including licensing, M&A acquisitions, patent prosecution, and IP litigation.  He or she will also have strong business acumen and contract experience, capacity to learn business rapidly and to become a business partner to both the life sciences and industrial lines of business.  A true in house commercial IP lawyer who can take LOB requirements and successfully lead negotiations and transactions to conclusion.

Required Skills

Your key responsibilities in this role include:

Structure, draft, negotiate to close, review, analyze and interpret various technology and intellectual property transactions and agreements, including licensing and sales.Serve as an essential business partner counseling in legal issues and risks (not just IP/technology risk, but any risks that could impact the company), complex deal structures, approval processes, IP strategy.Provide technology and IP law advice throughout all stages of the IP process/transaction, including comprehensive, strategic and well thought out IP input for R&D, licensing, partnerships, M&A, litigation.Develop and execute IP best practices, processes and strategies across the company.Manage global IP portfolios and supervise outside counsel and regional IP management.Educate management and technical staff regarding IP protection.Support M&A activities.

Required Experience

BS or BSE degree.JD, member of New York Bar, registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trade Office.Minimum of 15 years of substantive intellectual property experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical degree in engineering or materials science.Experience with a life sciences (biopharm/biotech) manufacturing/technology company.Knowledge of German or French a plus.
