Job Description:

EndoGastric Solutions, Inc. is a fast-growth medical technology company revolutionizing the fields of reconstructive surgery by designing, manufacturing and marketing surgical instruments that allow surgeons to operate on the stomach without making any incisions. These next generation instruments will enable a new category of Minimally Invasive Surgical procedures that will deliver expanded benefits to patients, employers, surgeons and the health care system. EndoGastric Solutions is building a foundation to its technology that will enable the procedures to become the standard of care for these disease states.


We currently have an opportunity for a Patent Engineer who will be responsible for strengthening the IP portfolio through licensing and creation art, managing the existing IP portfolio, prioritizing patent invention disclosures and working with engineering and outside resources to document applications and new invention disclosures.

Working closely with Senior Vice President of R&D and R&D Engineering teams, design and execute optimal protection strategies for innovation, strategic patenting and risk management efforts
Work with external patent counsel in respect of Company patent portfolio management (claims refinement, office action responses and geographical coverage decisions)


Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering, advanced university or engineering degree in biosciences or PhD a plus

Experience and working knowledge of US patent prosecution process Three or more years experience in either industry or academia with exposure to IP issues (patent analysis, patent filings, licensing and/or litigation) Good understanding of design and development of reusable and disposable surgical devices Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written. Ability to use Microsoft Office product competently Self-starter who can work well as part of a cross-functional team based around the world.
