Intellectual Property Technical Writer

Experienced individual who can understand and interpret technical data, work with engineering personnel and write, rewrite or edit technical documents such as patents, manuals, user manuals, and related technical publications which will communicate technical specifications clearly. Acquires subject knowledge and possesses a diverse technical background well suited for interpreting engineering documents and generating well organized, clear technical documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Write, rewrite, and edit technical documents.

• Ensures patents are written accurately based upon input from inventors.

• Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete and meets set requirements.

• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


• Must have some college level course work in Engineering, a Natural or Physical Science or Math.

• Strong technical writing skills specific to Science, Math, and Engineering.

• Must have strong interpersonal and commination skills.

• Knowledge of and ability to uses various word processing and desktop publishing software applications.

• Knowledge of standard business tools such as MS Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Preview or other similar department specific information systems or databases.


• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
