Medical Diagnostic Laboratories LLC (MDL) is a member of the Genesis Biotechnology Group (GBG). GBG is a consortium of entities and institutes, in the fields of molecular biology, medicinal chemistry and biotechnology. Our mission is to improve the patient’s quality of life by linking basic science and the development of diagnostic and pre-clinical treatments.
Our GBG members also engage in research and development of complex genetic tests, screening for potential drugs and drug targets, clinical trials and other research and academic collaborations.

The Genesis Biotechnology Group has an opening for an Intellectual Property Attorney to join our legal team in our corporate office in Hamilton, NJ.

Intellectual Property Counsel will directly report to Chief Intellectual Property Counsel in the Intellectual Property Division of the Legal Department. The IP Counsel will work closely with the Chief IP Counsel, the General Counsel and the Vice President of Research and Development, to develop Intellectual Property Portfolio. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing IP practice in a bio-tech company engaged in cutting-edge technology.

Requirements
Candidates must be a team player and have:
• 1-2 years of patent experience in patent drafting, filing and prosecution in U.S.
• A Juris Doctorate; and have been admitted to at least one State Bar, and registered before the USPTO.
• A BS degree in microbiology, molecular biology or a life science-related chemistry subject; Ph.D. or M.Sc in a molecular biology or chemistry-related subject, is preferred.
• Willingness to learn and be part of a team. Good people skills are a must.
• PC proficiency in MS Office-based applications and able to conduct computer-based prior art searches, and drafting of patent applications is a plus.
