Job Description:
Assists the IP Paralegal Manager in coordination of the day-to-day
operational activities of patent and trademark filing paralegals. Duties
will include assessment of workflow and work assignments, staff coverage
and trouble shooting to ensure smooth daily operations. The Coordinator
will act as a resource, facilitator, leader and mentor in order to
effectively support the needs of the IP practice group. In addition, the
Coordinator will assist with recruiting, training and development of
paralegals. The IP Paralegal Coordinator provides back-up to team members
when necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Manages paralegal attendance records and ensures adequate support
coverage when paralegals are out of the office. Reviews paralegal diaries
and monitors billable and non-billable hours.
* Monitors and evaluates quality of paralegal work product and ensures they
have the resources they need to complete assigned tasks. Ensures that all
filings are compliant with the firm's "best practice" guidelines. Assesses
paralegal workloads and redistributes accordingly.
* Responsible for coordinating on-going IP specific training sessions
including presentations when required. Assesses knowledge base and skill
set of the paralegals and identifies training opportunities to support
their professional development.
* Assists the IP Paralegal Manager with recruiting, interviewing and hiring
of permanent paralegals.
* Acts as mentor to assist junior and mid level paralegals to work more
effectively and efficiently
* Assists other department staff with any related IP prosecution matters,
including, but not limited to, client intake tasks, preparation of cost
estimates, status reports, and dockets reports.
* Works collaboratively with other matter assigned personnel to ensure
comprehensive and consistent delivery of client services.

Necessary Experience:

 ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES:

* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and a
demonstrable ability to learn any department specific software.

* Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse
environment.
* Ability to work effectively in a multi-office environment.
* Ability to adhere to the firm's policies, procedures and core values.

BILLABLE HOURS REQUIREMENT:
600 hours of combined hourly, fixed fee and client care work.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years IP prosecution experience.
Previous supervisory experience preferred. Working knowledge of IP systems
and process essential. Good communication skills, ability to work
collaboratively, think creatively and take initiative.

Additional Information:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment. Incumbent is expected to work the hours
necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
