Job Description:

 Kimberly-Clark Corporation is seeking a patent attorney to add to its Neenah, Wisconsin legal team. Kimberly-Clark is an established, global company, with innovative products and internationally-recognized brands. The successful candidate will provide patent counsel for Kimberly-Clark’s consumer product businesses. Key responsibilities include: providing guidance on invention disclosures and drafting patent applications; prosecuting US and foreign patent applications; managing foreign counsel handling foreign patent oppositions; providing input on product development and strategic initiatives and preparing patent clearance opinions; negotiating agreements with business partners; and providing client education. This position provides an opportunity to work closely with key organizational leaders in the North Atlantic region, to further their business objectives by providing sound, balanced and reasonable legal advice that strikes an appropriate risk/reward balance.

Necessary Experience:

 Basic Qualifications:

-Doctorate of Jurisprudence
-B.S. in chemistry or chemical engineering, or related discipline
-5 years experience in medium or large private or corporate practice specializing in patent law
-Admitted to practice law in at least one state
-Admitted to practice patent law at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
-Current experience drafting patent applications
-Current experience prosecuting US and foreign patent applications
-Experience preparing patent clearance opinions
-Experience drafting and negotiating technology agreements

Other Qualifications:

-Initiative and creativity in seeking solutions to problems
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
-Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team

Preferred Qualifications:

-7 years experience in medium to large private or corporate practice specializing in patent law
-M.S. in chemistry or chemical engineering, or related discipline
-Background in paper making or manufacturing
-If experience is in corporate law, working with outside patent counsel
-Experience handling foreign patent oppositions
-Experience supporting litigation or alternative dispute resolution of patent matters
-Experience conducting licensing negotiations
